Jason has to find a way back to Lyrian to inform his friends of the vital information shared with him. Once he is rejoined with his comrades he again embarks on the quest to defeat the evil wizard that is conquering the land of Lyrian piece by piece. The task is not without risk, hardship, or losses, but if they could just find out if it is even possible to defeat Maldor then they will have the one thing they need most. Hope.
Brandon Mull is an excellent writer. His fresh stories are why he has become one of my favorite authors these days. It seems that often a fantasy tale will stick to the same old Lord of the Rings remake. Eragon and The Sword of Shannara for example. Yet Mull always strikes out on an unpredictable route, and isn’t that what we really want?
In Beyonders #2 Brandon Mull does not disappoint. I love Ferrin the displacer, Aram, and the races of the Amar Kabal, and Drinlings. They are different, interesting and creative. True, I can get a little bored when reading the introductions to a new character, but I can also see why Mull has his lengthy intros, and truthfully it’s all part of his style. I believe this is why Mull's later books are better than the first, with all those pesky intros behind us we are free to fall into Mull's fabulous storytelling and ready for adventure.
